Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of RevealLab, a backtesting-only research tool operated by [BUSINESS NAME] ("we", "us", the "Service"). By creating an account or running a backtest, you agree to these Terms. Please read them — the short version is we run honest backtests; we never place orders or manage money.
1.What RevealLab is
RevealLab is a sealed-reveal walk-forward backtester. You bring a trading strategy (for example, a PineScript translated into our engine) and a set of symbols; the Service runs that strategy against historical market data and reports simulated results — win rate, total R, an honest reveal ledger, and a Translation Report describing exactly what we could and could not reproduce. That is the entire product: a measurement tool for the historical behavior of a strategy.
2.Backtest-only — no trading, no custody
This is the most important term, so we state it loudly:
- RevealLab does not place orders, live or paper, on your behalf.
- RevealLab does not manage, hold, or have custody of any money, securities, or assets.
- RevealLab is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or financial institution, and nothing in the Service should be read as broker, advisory, or custodial services.
- Any market-data access we perform is solely to compute a backtest. We use our own market-data credentials to pull the bars needed for your run; the Service produces a report, not a trade.
3.Not financial advice; results are simulations
All output from the Service — including win rates, R multiples, equity curves, ledgers, grades, and any commentary — is a historical simulation for informational and educational purposes only. It is not investment, financial, legal, accounting, or tax advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or asset.
Past performance does not guarantee — and is not indicative of — future results. Simulated and backtested results have inherent limitations: they are computed with the benefit of hindsight, may not account for slippage, fees, liquidity, or market impact, and do not represent actual trading. You should not rely on any RevealLab output as the sole basis for a financial decision, and you should consult a qualified, licensed professional before trading. You trade entirely at your own risk.
4.Accounts & provisioning
You may need an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials secure, and to be responsible for activity under your account. You must be of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
We are a small team. Accounts and plan access may be provisioned, adjusted, or revoked manually at our discretion — for example, to grant early access, correct a billing issue, or respond to abuse. Provisioning an account is not a guarantee of uninterrupted access.
5.Plans, billing & the backtest cap
- Free plan. The free tier includes a limited number of honest backtests — currently 5 backtests per period (the "backtest cap"). When the cap is reached, further runs are paused until the period resets or you upgrade.
- Paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (for example, monthly) through our payment processor. Prices are shown at checkout and may change with notice for future billing periods.
- Renewals & cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable, and we do not provide partial-period refunds. Our refund policy, if any beyond this, is described at [REFUND POLICY / "contact support"].
- Taxes. Stated prices may exclude applicable taxes, which are your responsibility.
- Caps & fair use. Each plan's backtest limits, symbol counts, and rate limits are part of these Terms. We may enforce them to keep the Service available to everyone.
6.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to violate any law, regulation, exchange rule, or third party's rights;
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service, our market data, or backtest output except as your own permitted use;
- scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to bypass rate limits, the backtest cap, authentication, or other technical controls;
- share, transfer, or pool a single account across multiple users to evade plan limits;
- upload content you do not have the right to use, or anything malicious, infringing, or unlawful;
- misrepresent RevealLab output as live trading results, certified returns, or a guarantee of performance to any third party.
We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that, in our judgment, violates these Terms or risks harm to the Service or other users.
7.Your data & keys
Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. In short: we collect the minimum needed to run the Service (such as your email, username, and the backtest requests you submit), the server pulls market data with our own key to run your backtest, and we do not sell your data. You retain ownership of the strategies and inputs you submit; you grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the Service to you.
8.Intellectual property
The Service, including the sealed-reveal engine, the translation logic, the UI, and all related software and content, is owned by [BUSINESS NAME] and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You keep the rights to the strategies and inputs you bring; we keep the rights to everything we build.
9.No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that backtest results are accurate, complete, error-free, or predictive, that the Service will be uninterrupted, or that any strategy will be profitable. Market data supplied by third parties may contain errors or gaps outside our control.
10.Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, [BUSINESS NAME] and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any trading or investment losses, or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — even if advised of the possibility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of [CAP AMOUNT, e.g. "USD 100"] or the amount you paid us for the Service in the [NUMBER, e.g. "twelve (12)"] months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11.Changes & termination
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time; we may suspend or terminate access as described above. Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) survive termination.
12.Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [VENUE] for any dispute, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
